MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEES

Membership Benefits and Development Committee
2008 Chair: Kevin McCoy, Kruchko & Fries, 703-734-0554

  • Sponsor ”Chamber 101” and “Networking 101” workshops quarterly for new and prospective members.
  • Create a core group of members who will solicit new members by means of member referrals and leads.
  • Work in conjunction with the Chamber Staff to assist in developing leads and recruitment programs and incentives.
  • Coordinate the annual “Sip and Sample” Prospective Member Mixer and other membership events.
  • Organize and facilitate annual membership drive.
  • Periodically attend Chamber Lead Group meetings to talk about Chamber activities and to encourage their involvement in other Chamber activities. Implement and market approved projects.
  • Expand and promote the Member-to-Member Discount Programs.
  • Develop a program that encourages and rewards members for shopping and using Chamber members.
  • Expand the Chambers networking (TIP) groups. Develop methods to make these groups an integral part of the Chamber’s other activities.

Member Services Committee

  • Oversee Ambassadors, which welcome all new members on a monthly basis
  • Establish a membership Retention Task Force whose mission is to retain existing members through personal contact to ensure membership satisfaction.
  • Oversee mentoring program to contact members via phone, mail, and at Chamber networking events.
  • Achieve an 80% retention rate of new members.
  • Welcome new members, potential new members and guests at all Chamber events

Business Development Committee
2008 Chair, Kurt Frogale, Commerce Bank-Vienna (703-281-1257)

  • Periodically update, publish and solicit advertising and promotion of the Chamber’s Restaurant Guide.
  • Develop programs that are responsive to the needs of special interests in the Chamber.
  • Expand the Chambers networking (TIP) groups. Develop methods to make these groups an integral part of the Chamber’s other activities.
  • Appoint Chamber representatives to serve on the Town/Business Liaison Committee to facilitate communication between that commission and the Board of Directors.

Government Affairs Committee
2008 Chair: Roy J. Baldwin, Roy J. Baldwin, Esq. (703-281-0134)

  • Acts as the liaison with the Town of Vienna regarding Town projects that affect the business community. Provide Chamber representation at local government meetings as appropriate.
  • Organize 2 legislative events each year to allow Chamber members to meet elected officials and candidates for local office and ask questions.
  • Serve as a forum for business executives, industry professionals and government officials to exchange information and ideas on legislative issues.
  • Meet with the Mayor and Town Manager quarterly to maintain open communications and to make recommendations with respect to issues of concern to Vienna businesses.
  • Participate in the Northern Virginia Coalition of Chambers of Commerce and team with other Chambers on events of mutual interest in order to bring together ideas and strengthen the voice of the business community in the General Assembly.

Youth & Education Committee
2008 Chair: Barbara McHale, Long and Foster Realtors (703-901-8300)

  • Serve as the contact for local schools.
  • Serve as a resource and actively participate in mentoring and shadowing programs of area schools.
  • Responsible for appointing a liaison to the Vienna/Madison Community Coalition.
  • Coordinate annual Ethics Day Program.
  • Coordinate “Chamber Stars” Program.
  • Coordinate annual Youth and Education luncheon.
  • Investigate other opportunities and programs that would better prepare Vienna area students in higher education as well as secondary schools for the workforce, i.e., career days.

Nonprofit Committee
2008 Chair: Gina Cocomello, The Alternative House (703-506-9191)

  • Coordinate relationship between nonprofit and business members of Chamber.
  • Enhance nonprofit membership within Chamber.
  • Schedule monthly meetings with nonprofit members of the Chamber and those interested in the nonprofits to include discussion.
    topics of interest to nonprofits and facilitate partnerships.
  • Responsible for one annual VTRCC mixer and one annual luncheon.
  • Schedule and promote quarterly INOVA Blood Drives.

Community Affairs Committee
2008 Chair: Tom Hanton, Guernsey Office Products, 703-788-3223

  • Organize East/West Business Appreciation Basketball Game at Madison High School.
  • Assist with annual Ethics Days at Madison and Marshall High Schools (and Oakton High School).
  • Co-ordinate Oktoberfest with Town of Vienna and Fundraising Committee.
  • Oversee Chamber involvement in Halloween Parade.

Finance Committee
2008 Chair: Treasurer, Kathy Jensen, Goodman & Company (703-970-0429)

  • Participate with staff in the preparation of the Chamber’s annual budget.
  • Present annual budget for approval to the Board of Directors.
  • Review and present monthly financial reports at Board meetings.

AD HOC COMMITTEES

Strategic Planning Committee
2008 Chair: Jim DiModica, APT Impact, Inc. (703-396-8205 ext. 100)

  • Upgrade the Software and Technology for invoicing for events and to change to a monthly billing cycle for members.
  • Manage and utilize more control of emails and member information.
  • Build and execute a plan to expand to more Tysons members.
  • Build a "Partners Program" for sponsorships to help fund the technology and infrastructure required.

Marketing Committee
2008 Chair: Claire Liston, C. Liston Communications (703-837-8441)

  • Promote VTRCC as the link between business and community.
  • Support the Chamber’s overall Marketing Goal, inform members, and keep the Chamber in the public eye.
  • Develop a Marketing Plan for the Chamber.
  • Produce the Chamber’s newsletter, The Enterprise, a quarterly full-color, glossy publication.
  • Distribute The Enterprise throughout the Vienna-Tysons Corner Community through mailing and distribution locations.
