The ViennaTysons Regional Chamber of Commerce is a 450 + member organization comprised of businesses and community organizations of the Vienna/Tysons Corner region. For over 65 years, VTRCC has been the area’s “Link to Opportunity”, and is a primary reason why Money magazine named our area the “4th Best Place to Live” in the United States.

Overview:
Intern will be introduced to non-profit organizational management and event planning by working closely with the Office Administrator/Event Planner of the chamber, as well as the President and Board of Directors. The internship offers an excellent opportunity to learn daily management and overall operations of a rapidly growing business association that is known as a guiding force in enhancing/furthering the economic prosperity of a critically important region/part of Fairfax County, VA - one of the top economic areas in the United States.

Skills and Knowledge: 

  • Basic computer skills necessary, including competency in Microsoft Outlook, Word,
  • Excel and internet research.
  • Ability to learn trade - oriented database and email/newsletter software.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and a willingness to make phone calls or engage

effectively with current and prospective members including political representatives.

  • First-rate spoken and written English proficiency is essential.
  • Strong writing skills - press releases/event descriptions/newsletter article content.
  • Detail oriented and strong organizational skills.
  • Professional appearance and attitude.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage compilation and distribution of  Chamber marketing materials.
  • Assist in preparation of materials for Chamber events, and provide support with

registration and set-up during events.

  • Help in preparation of materials for Board and committee meetings
  • Learn to update database of members and prospects
  • Answer telephones, take messages, tend to and resolve information requests
  • Assist with website management
  • Support Chamber President and Director of Operations with creating, proofreading and mailing correspondence.
  • Learn to assist members, potential members, relocating residents and local businesses by providing written and oral communications requested regarding living and doing business in the Vienna/Tysons region.
  • Other duties as assigned

Special Projects: Opportunity to work with VTRCC staff and Board members to develop and implement special projects in marketing, PR, social media, graphics, and other areas of special interest to interns.

Term: June through September/ September through January/ February thru mid June with possibility of extending if mutually beneficial.

Hours: 8 -20 hours per week during regular business hours Monday-Friday. Hours are flexible and may be mutually agreed upon by VTRCC Director of Operations and intern. Some evening and rare weekend events may be required.

The ViennaTysons Chamber of Commerce
needs a couple of volunteers to help with set-up and registration at our regular monthly events. Events include Monthly Networking Mixers, Monthly Luncheons, Monthly Brown Bag University programs and Quarterly Speed Networking Breakfasts. Candidates should be available to commit to at least one of the events on a regular ongoing basis for a minimum of 3 months.

Duties include arriving 1 hour before the event to set up; staying until the end of the event to pack up; greeting attendees and checking their registrations; distributing name badges; processing at the door payments and walk-in registrations, and other duties as assigned.

Benefits include meeting and networking with business representatives from the Vienna/Tysons area, free lunches and appetizers at some of the best restaurants and business locations in the area, and enjoying a fun-filled couple of hours with a vibrant group of people in one of the fastest-growing business organizations in the Metro area.

Meals On Wheels Drivers Needed In McLean
